What was checked, what is not perfect, and how to tell us.

How accessible this site is

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. The site was checked against that standard on the date above, and we believe it meets it. That is our own assessment, not an independent audit.

What was checked and what it found:

  • Every colour pair used for text was measured. The lowest is 6.06:1, against a required 4.5:1.
  • Every page has one main heading, headings in order, a main landmark, and a skip link as the first thing you reach with the keyboard.
  • Every image has a text alternative. Decorative graphics are marked so a screen reader skips them rather than reading a filename.
  • The layout was tested at every width from 1400 pixels down to 320, and at a short screen height. Nothing overflows and nothing needs sideways scrolling, including at 400% zoom.
  • Buttons and links are at least 44 pixels tall. Zoom is not blocked.
  • Focus outlines are visible on everything you can reach by keyboard, and none have been removed.
  • Animation is disabled for anyone whose device asks for reduced motion.
  • There are no forms on this site, so there are no unlabelled fields.

What we know is not perfect

  • The demo on the front page makes a sound. It plays only when you press the button, and the page describes in text what it does, but the sound itself is not useful if you cannot hear it. The spoken part is written out on screen word by word as it goes, in step with the voice, so the demo still makes sense with the sound off.
  • The phone mockup on the front page uses small text, around 10 pixels. It is a picture of the app rather than content you need to read, and everything it shows is described in words elsewhere on the page, but it will be hard to read for some people.
  • No screen reader test has been done by a person. Automated checking finds roughly half of accessibility problems. The rest needs somebody using the site with assistive technology, and that has not happened yet, so this statement claims less than a full audit would.

The app

This statement is about the website. CHKT itself is an Android app and follows Android's own accessibility settings, including font size and TalkBack. It has not been formally audited either. Reminders being read aloud is the point of the app rather than an accessibility feature, but for some people it works as one.

Reporting a problem

If you find something on this site or in the app you cannot use, write to complaints@lightmorphic.com. You will get a reply within a week, and a barrier that shuts somebody out is treated as a bug, not a preference.
